Muido Island Adventure

We decided to "escape" from the city for 1 night to celebrate our anniversary somewhere special however, our island getaway turned out to be much more of an adventure than a romantic retreat. After nearly 4 hours of travel to get to the island, we didn't actually stay. Upon arrival, it started to rain, then we found our Minbok (basic hotel room) and it was a bit scary, there were no restaurants or showers in sight. The place felt more like a summer camp than a quiet mini break so, we decided that after a long hard week, we just weren't up to roughing it. Luckily we caught the last bus to the ferry, the last ferry off the island & just when our luck was starting to turn around....we missed the last bus back to civilization...ugh!!! The best part about the whole ordeal was the people that we met on our way back. We were on a crowded bus trying to get to the ferry terminal in time and we offered some snack mix (from Costco) to the group of guys we were sitting with. After a few peanuts and smiles, they tried to speak a little English to us. We soon discovered that their whole group (of 12) was on their junior high reunion from 35 years ago....amazing!! We were quickly a part of their clan and introduced to everyone as Ruke and Lolly :0 he he!! Good thing we ran into this group because when we discovered we had missed the last bus home, they were ready and willing to help us figure out which direction to go. As we walked along the road together in the middle of nowhere, we laughed about our island adventures! In that moment I realized there was no longer a cultural separation, only friendship!

What could have been a bad experience, turned into a great adventure and a night we won't forget with our new Korean friends!!! :)

Tacos....Glorious Tacos!!!

Our Comfort food from home :0

Sometimes it's the little things in life that count the most.....especially when we have been eating nothing but KIMCHI and RICE for the last 2 months!! We put some hard work into finding all the "Mexican" ingredients but, man was it worth it! :0 On a hot, humid summer night, nothing tastes as good as tacos and a cold beer in South Korea!
**(Mom, thanks for sending us the taco shells all the way from California)**

Pre-School Field Trip!

We made it through the first of many field trips. We took the kids to the National Center for Traditional Korean Performance Art....it was a lot of work keeping track of all the little rascals but, the kids had a lot of fun!! :)

Check out the photos below, some of them are "classic"
