Modern Art Museum

We decided to visit the Seoul Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA). It was a really interesting experience, largely because the place is located inside an amusement park! Seoul Grand Park is home to the MOCA, the city zoo as well as the amusement park, Seoul Land. So, in true amusement park fashion, we got to take a tram (with an elephant head on the front) into the park. It actually really built the anticipation! Don't worry - we took a video!

Once we got there, the museum grounds were beautiful. The area is surrounded by lush green hills and they have a river running alongside the building. Also, the outside is decorated by a diverse sculpture park!

It just so happened that we showed up on a day that they had free admission so we strolled right in, but not before being met by a gracious and eager volunteer who rushed over to welcome us and thank us for visiting their museum. It seems they really like having foreigners visit. She spoke English very well and gave us a neat, complimentary book about the history of the museum.

Inside there wasn't many areas where you were allowed to shoot pictures, but we were able to sneak one of their center piece exhibit - a tower of TVs that reached 30ft into the ceiling! The statement was something along the lines of the over saturation of media today... I think :)

It was a wonderful museum. We really enjoyed ourselves and definitely plan to go back and spend more time there. We stayed the whole afternoon and only saw the first floor!
